Two Tree Island

This holiday I have started work on the follow-up to Radar Point– another environmental composition. This is not commissioned nor is it aimed at any particular event; but it is something I strongly want to do before the onset of the serious projects that are lined up for 2012. Two Tree Island is a small island connected by a small bridge from the road that runs behind Leigh-On-Sea station. This is reclaimed land; it was a landfill site in the 1980s and there is historical evidence of industry on the eastern side of the island. It is now a thriving nature reserve, hosting many rare wading birds. Im looking to sample both the sounds of the birds and the wind blowing through the masts of the moored yachts in the boatyard- the sounds of the lanyards slapping up against the masts is a particualry evocative sound, and common to the estuary (or any other for that matter). Ive got some interesting samples- in the process I took some photographs, which will in turn, influence the compostion
